This past week...

Quite a bit has happened over the past week, and since I'm short on time (thanks a lot hockey playoffs) I'll get right to it.
The travel home from my work trip was mostly uneventful. Except for the nail in the tire of the rental car. And my coworker having to get food in the airport and making us the last two to get on the plane. It was a pretty turbulent flight too. So I guess it wasn't quite so uneventful.
I did another hard crash after dinner Monday - I was so tired I don't even remember unpacking. It made me very glad that I had taken Tuesday off work. Not because of the trip, but because it was my birthday and I felt like I wanted a day for myself. I relaxed for a bit in the morning, and worked on my puzzle for a while. I went to lunch with my wife, and then ran a couple errands in the afternoon. In the evening I had my curling banquet, complete with a rendition of 'happy birthday' from the group. Unfortunately I had to cut that part of the night short, because my run club was also expecting me for cake (and more singing). I will say, being the center of attention is not my favourite thing in the world, but I did end up having a lot of fun.
With the travel day, a day off, and the holiday on Friday, my work week was a very short two days. Much of that was spent dealing with the results of the weekend inventory, and explaining how more areas of the system work (I say 'explaining', but it was more like contradicting multiple false assumptions because people simply refuse to ask those of us who actually know). I'm not done with that mess by any stretch, but the weekend rescued me from dealing with it for now.
Friday was a fairly relaxing day, but I did get out of the house for a couple of things. Some of my run club friends were participating in a charity run event at a nearby park, so I went for a bit to see how they were doing. The event was basically running/walking up and down a hill as many times as they could, with the max being 120 laps over a ten hour period (yes, runners are often nuts!). After that I had lunch with my good friend, and with it being a holiday we didn't have to rush off to work afterward, which was very nice.
The rest of the weekend was normalish, although I did have several extra things to try and get done so today got hectic. I wasn't expecting to get through the whole list, but I didn't get as far as I wanted to either, so I've got a few things to work on during the coming week.
Goals took a beating over the past couple weeks as well, which I figured would happen. What I wasn't expecting was the 2.5 lbs that I put on. It's much harder to take it off than it is to put it on, so I've got that to focus on too. Now that curling is done I'm planning to start going to another run club on Fridays, and hopefully I'll get a motivation boost from that and start getting things back on track.
And that about covers it. I hope everyone had a wonderful and fun weekend, and the week ahead treats you well. =]
