These past weeks...
Oct. 5th, 2025 11:27 amToday has been a pretty low-key day so far. I slept in, my chore list is small and almost done, and at the moment I'm spending some time chilling on the back porch with a beer. So it feels like a good time to catch up on my posting.
I skipped last week's post - I didn't really feel like there was much to talk about other than the ordinary things. This week started out fairly normally, but Wednesday was the start of month end and this one was particularly bad. Most of my time was spent dealing with major problems with one of the plants - all of which they caused, but I had to fix. Wednesday I worked til almost 6, and then I was in early on Thursday to make sure I hit my deadlines. By the end of it I was so burnt out that I had to leave early and go home.
After a solid night's sleep I was feeling much more normal on Friday. Work was decent, although I had to be on several calls explaining what went on with that one plant. But then in the evening I got to spend some time hanging out with my good friend. We sat by a fire for a bit (a proper one, not my gas fire table), and then something we haven't done in a long time - we got so lost in our conversation that I ended up being there more than two hours longer than I intended. It was a really enjoyable night.
Yesterday I was up early. A group of my running friends and I went on a road trip to a nearby city. We planned for a 13-14 km run, followed by visits to a couple of breweries in the area. We had a wonderful lunch and sampled many different beers, and spent a great afternoon hanging out and socializing together. The run wasn't the best - we stopped too many time to get our bearings and it kind of killed my energy levels. But it was still good to get some training miles in (my half marathon is in two weeks), and all in all it was a really fun day.
As for today, I'm not entirely sure how the rest of the day is going to play out. I have a couple things left on my list that must get done, but other than that I think I'll take it easy. Dinner is already on the go in the slow cooker (birria beef for tacos), and maybe a movie after. Feels like a good day to take advantage of the free time.
So with that I'm going to say farewell for now. I hope you all have the opportunity to enjoy a restful Sunday, and have a good week to come. =]
