I went for a walk at lunch today. First time this year, which is very out of character for me. But I need to start doing more of the things that break up my day, especially during the work week, so today was step one of that.

So I went for a walk, and it was a beautiful day today - warm and sunny but not humid, nice breeze - and like most of my lunchtime walks I ended up at a nearby park. And as I was walking a loop around the park, an idea struck. How great would it be to take a half hour in the middle of the work day, find a quiet corner in a park, curl up on the lawn with someone you're close to, and just decompress? Sounds pretty good to me.

Now I'm not sure how, but as I continued my stroll the imagery of this idea turned itself into some words. And as I started repeating them to myself I thought "you know, this sounds kind of haiku-ish". I did a quick look-up in everyone's favourite search engine to see what the actual pattern of a haiku is (I'm not a poet, so yes, I had to look it up), made a few tweaks here and there, and BAM - I had a real poem!  8D

But hang on - there's more...

I'm usually a terrible critic of myself, but I actually like this how this turned out. I like it enough that I'm going to do something I haven't been able to do in the 2.5 years I've been here on DW - I'm going to share it.  Here it is - I hope you like it too...
