This past week...
Jan. 26th, 2025 11:08 pmQuick post this week - I stayed up watching hockey and need to get to bed soon.
Overall it was an ok-ish week. Work was fine, although I'm still not used to this "work five days a week" nonsense. I've actually done such a good job catching up over the past year that I'm now finding myself having to find things to work on. Don't get me wrong, there's lots - but I don't really have the motivation right now for the heavier projects, and so I'm picking away at little things. I also spent some time working on a tentative vacation schedule for the year. I'm planning to take a full week off in April and September, which will be the first time in a few years. I'd like to plan some travel during those weeks, whether it be with the wife, with friends, or on my own. It's been too many years since I've been able to get away for more than a day or two, and I think it's about time I fix that.
It was actually warm enough to get outside for a jog today, even though the air was still cold enough to irritate my lungs for several hours afterward. Mostly in the winter I run on the treadmill in the basement, which is both convenient and climate-controlled. I went to run club on Tuesday, just for the socializing, and, since I wasn't scheduled for curling this week and nobody asked me to spare for them, I took the opportunity to go hang out with some of my running friends at a different run club on Friday. The Friday group is the largest in the area, so I'm glad I already knew some people there. Once spring is here and curling is done I think I'll try running with them regularly as well - I have a number of events to train for this year, and running with more than one group should help.
Early last week I started a jigsaw puzzle that I got for Christmas, and this morning I got into a groove and ended up finishing it. It was a pretty neat puzzle - labels from dozens of Michigan breweries. I find those types of puzzles usually go quickly, since they're made up of a lot of small sections. I'm also glad to have it completed because I want to get back to the blanket I was working on last winter (I just have to figure out where I left off).
Coming up, I will definitely be at curling this week since I'm playing against two friends that I haven't seen since before the holidays. It's the game I've been looking forward to all season, even though they're going to kick my butt. I'm also hoping to get together with my good friend at some point, although this may be one of those weeks where things just don't line up (I hate when that happens).
That's it for this week. I'll see you all next time. =]
