These past weeks...

Miss me? Seems like half the month has gone by since the last time I was here. Oh wait...
Yeah, the past couple of Sundays have been so loaded with adulting that I ended up crashing on the couch not long after dinner, and waking up in the middle of the night just long enough to pull a blanket over me and go back to sleep. Last week I never really got the brain to get to the computer stuff, but today I absolutely had to do my banking - so here I am.
What has me so burned out you might ask? Well, on top of the normal load I carry, I've been asked by my MIL to feed her cats while she's been out of town - two separate 4-day stretches. May not sound like much, but it meant getting up earlier, leaving earlier, going 10 minutes in the wrong direction, then going to work, then going back after work through terrible rush-hour traffic... Just "feeding the cats" added about an hour and a half to each day, and killed pretty much any chance I had to properly unwind. Of course, that wasn't the only thing that contributed to the overload, but it was a lot of it.
Despite the excess adulting, I have kept quite steady on my goals. So far I've come in at 75%, 75%, & 78% over the past 3 weeks, helped a lot by much better sleep patterns (although some of that is due to being more tired than usual too). Exercise is still going very well, and I decided this morning that I'm going to do a 6-month running recap in early July so I can outline the progress I've made with some extra detail. I've also started on a new crochet project. Well, technically, I've started it I think 9 times so far, and I still have nothing to show for it. It uses bulky black yarn, and I'm having a lot of trouble seeing the stitches and keeping track of stitch counts. I'm sure I'll get it eventually, but for now it's a bit vexing.
Last week was my last Friday off for a while. It started a little rough - I did way too many chores for a vacation day, and ultimately had to argue with myself to stop and do something enjoyable. I ended up going to the driving range, which was both fun and relaxing. Then I met my good friend for lunch, and since we had some time after we went to a nearby park, had a stroll, and sat in the shade and chatted for a while.
Coming up, quite simply put, is hell. Otherwise known as year-end. Physical counts at 5 plants over the next two weekends, hard deadlines for everything, tons of information to prepare, and probably no days off until July 6th. Unless someone shows up with a severance cheque, in which case I'll smile politely, shake their hand, and dance my way out the door, laughing with glee! It would be a crazy thing for them to do, but I've seen crazier.
Well, I suppose I should wrap this up and get myself to bed. Enjoy the week ahead, and if you're currently mired in the same heat wave we are, keep as cool as you can. See you next time. =]
