The real reason...
Oct. 1st, 2023 07:55 pmYes, I took some time off. And yes, I honestly did deserve it - and needed it. But here's the real reason I wanted those couple days off...
I've done 4 of these system launches in the past. *NOTHING* goes according to plan. And trying to think your way through problems when your brain is mush simply doesn't work. So yes. I took two days off right before a major project launch. But here's what happened after I got back...
I started on the final push at 8am Friday. I worked 12 hours Friday, 12 hours Saturday, and 6 hours Sunday (for the record, 22 of those 30 hours were unpaid, but that's just part of the job). Without that time away to recharge my brain, there's no telling how much more time it could have taken.
Even with the extra cognitive functions, there was still stuff that got missed, and there are still a few major issues I have to deal with. But at least I'm coherent enough to think my way through it. =]
