Another Side Project - Complete...

Well, I actually had this done a few days ago, but I've been pretty sick the past week and that delayed a lot of things - such as this post.  But now that I'm feeling better (not quite 100% but getting there), I'm able to start playing catch-up.

At my last post, the main body of the blanket had been finished and it was ready for the border.  I ended up making the border smaller this time - it frames the blanket off nicely, but isn't as obvious as the last one.  I wove in all the tag ends and laid it out on a flat surface, and found that, much like the first one, my tension was uneven across the whole project.  Not as bad, but still noticeable enough that I needed to block it into shape, which is where it's sitting right now.  Since I wanted to get this post done today, I made sure to take a picture beforehand...

The variegated yarn made a pretty nice chevron-like pattern across most of the blanket, with a bit of variation in the center area.  The different technique that I used for this one was much easier to work, and turned out what I think is a nicer finished product - although I am proud of the job I did on both of them.  Hopefully when the time comes to start on "Side Project #3" (you guess it, another baby blanket) I will have worked out the tension issues, and will create something truly worthy of OOO's and AHH's.  SP#3 is for very good friends of mine, and I want it to be special - a lot of planning and pattern design has already gone into it.

For now though, I've gotten back into my original blanket project, and in just the past few days I've made considerable progress.  But there is still lots to be done.

Until next time.  =]

** Edit 11/14/22:  A request was made for a picture of the blanket laid out flat after blocking, to see the pattern in better detail.  So here it is...

Ohh, I love the look of that variegated yarn! This is a case where it could be argued inconsistent tension came in handy, imo, since it contributed to this look ;D I hope you'll post another pic once it's blocked.

What do you have in mind for SP#3?

Oh, wow, that is fun to look at! Great work :D

The sports team colors idea sounds cute. I look forward to seeing it!
