These past months...
I missed the June post, so this one will be a two-fer. Overall both months were decent at 72% and 69%, however the things I want to work on the most continue to be the things I'm struggling with. I will say this - the biggest success is that it's August and I'm still working on my goals, and I'm very happy about that.
Sleep: Set a worknight bedtime. Track duration, with a target of 5+ hours per night.
>> Duration has been good, but getting to bed on time is sporadic, and sleep quality is still often poor.
Exercise: Minimum 30 minutes per session. Minimum 3 sessions per week to start, increasing to 4 in April.
>> I missed a day in two of the weeks in July, but there are several weeks where I did extra so I'll call it even. I've been doing a lot of running, including some longer distances, and I joined a run club last week, so I expect to continue to have success in this category through the rest of the year.
Beer at home: None. Goal is to reduce unnecessary calorie intake during inactive periods of the day.
>> All I can say is, it's summer. I knew the summer months would be tough, and I was definitely right. I'm not totally giving this one up, but also not expecting miracles.
Drink more water: Minimum 3 glasses per day.
>> Still way over this goal. I could probably remove this one from the list since I don't think I've missed a day in many many months
Computer day: Consolidate all activities requiring sitting at the computer to a single day. Should open up time during the week for other activities.
>> Sundays wasn't really working for me for my weekly posts here, so I've moved them back to Wednesdays. Which means this isn't really "consolidated" to a single day anymore. But I do still want to get things done on time, so I'll continue to keep track.
Keep up with dishes: Unload clean dishes from the dishwasher, and load dirty dishes directly. Goal is to avoid dirty dishes piling up in the sink for multiple days.
>> Perfect in June, but only 25% in July. I'm hopeful that a recent shift in my work hours (which will get me home earlier) will help make it easier to keep up on this one.
Haircut: Scheduled every 3 weeks.
>> Missed the scheduled day in June, but was on time in July.
Leisure time at home: Minimum 2 times per week. Activities include things like craft projects, reading, puzzles, board games, etc.
>> Zero again in both months. I'm just not feeling all that interested in these types of things lately. I'm sure the motivation will come back eventually.
Regional tour: I was gifted a subscription for tastings at more than a dozen regional breweries, wineries, and distilleries. Goal is to visit at least 1 per month.
>> Went to two locations in June, but none in July.
Quarterly activity: At least once every 3 months, I want to do something that would be uncharacteristic for me (i.e. things that will get me out of my comfort zone). Leaning towards things I would need to sign up for so that I'm committing to doing them.
>> Nothing in June, which means nothing at all in the second quarter. Had nothing in July either.
Personal goals: There are a few things I'll be tracking that I won't be specifically discussing here.
>> This is by far the area that drags down my marks every week/month. Most of them are weekly goals (basically pass/fail), and having a full week of success is proving to be difficult. I don't want to give up on any of these, but maybe a change in grading is in order.
Monthly goal review: Post a formal review of success on all goals for the month.
>> Done.
